After the successes of last year’s “Aladdin” and the summer production of “Wizard of Oz”, Miss Reynolds’ Sixth Form Drama Group couldn’t wait to get back in the limelight! The Christmas pantomime looks set to become a school tradition – oh no it doesn’t! Oh yes it does! Etc., and this year it was “Dick Whittington (and his cat)” that got the Sandfield touch. In fact December’s daytime performance was such a success that we decided a repeat performance was in order, so that parents and family unable to attend during the day could have the chance to enjoy it. We returned to Olde London one January evening, and if anything it was even better! The pupils were able to reflect and improve on their first performance, giving them a great opportunity to develop their skills, whether acting or helping out backstage. Bravo! Now planning for the summer begins…
Following the success of the 2015 Christmas Pantomime, "Aladdin", the 6th form decided they'd all caught the Drama bug and were keen to have another go! They settled on "The Wizard of Oz" as their end of year production, and set to rehearsing with gusto. Written and directed by the ever-patient Miss Reynolds, it was a resounding success. From the sets and costumes to musical and dance numbers - and the superb acting of course! - the productions go from strength to strength. Already, younger pupils are suggesting ideas for future plays and are looking forward to entering the 6th form so they can get involved.
Congratulations to all the pupils who took part and won medals in the Merseyside School Athletics competition held at Wavertree Athletics Centre. Pupils enjoyed competing in a wide range of events including wheelchair slalom, javelin, shot put, discus throw, ramp ball, bean bag target, 60m, 100m, 200m, 400m sprints and the 4x100m relay.
