Sixth Form Groups 1,2,3
Sixth Form Groups 1, 2 & 3
Welcome to Sixth Form!
We have made a brilliant start to the new school year and it is great to see all pupils continuing to build upon their relationships with staff and peers. As well as supporting pupils to socialise and communicate with less familiar peers and staff.
In the Sixth Form, we have a mixture of year 12, 13 and 14 pupils. Our curriculum is life skill based and we aim for pupils to have their own personalised pathway. This will enable them to complete qualifications at their own level and prepare pupils for their journey and transition into College, Post-19 placements and Adulthood.
We offer a variety of courses from Pre-entry level to Level 2. The aim is for all pupils to access and achieve qualifications at the appropriate level. Although we focus our curriculum on life skills, we do combine it with Employability and Functional Skills Literacy, Numeracy and ICT. Pupils also have the opportunity to participate in Duke of Edinburgh (DofE) Bronze and Silver Award, with the hope of progressing to the Gold Award in the future. The Duke of Edinburgh Expeditions progress each year. DofE enables pupils to build upon their skills and knowledge in a variety of areas such as volunteering, skills, physical skills and expedition skills. We are hoping to participate in the National Citizen Service (NCS) programme again in the future as that has also been a great success with our young people in the past. ‘NCS exists to engage, unite and empower young people, building their confidence so they can go out there and achieve their dreams, no matter where they’re from or what their background is’. This academic year, we are offering and introducing NHS Cadets to our young people, which is such a fantastic opportunity to develop skills linked to employment.
