MNE at Alder Hey Hospital

Ward Teaching Gallery Spring 2026

What a busy Spring term we have had at the hospital!

Willow Weaving

In February, Caroline the Willow Artist came to work with the children on the wards. She taught us to make butterflies, rockets and even wonderful hearts that one of our patients gifted to her Mum on Mother’s Day. Thank you Caroline!

Shakepeare North

From February to March, we were lucky to have Shakepeare North on the wards. Here are Lucy the DJ and Chris the Beatboxer bringing a disco to the wards!

Lucy brought wireless headphones with her, which we gave out to patients, parents and staff who loved listening to the set. Lucy and Chris really brought the disco to Alder Hey!

Chris taught us how to beatbox – what a talent!

We also worked with the talented graffiti artist, Simon!

Blue Saint

For the whole of the Spring term, Blue Saint has been our resident rapper! He has helped us to write songs and wowed us with his incredible talent and ability to make up rhymes on the spot!

Thanks Blue, you really brighten up our day!

World Book Day and Reading for Pleasure

This term we have been celebrating reading for pleasure. Here are some of the books our children have really enjoyed:

We love reading!

Reception and KS1 pupils have enjoyed all of these brilliant stories, especially You Choose, where we can use our imagination to make up our own stories.

We also love our non-fiction books like this wonderful Atlas.

Supertato our unlikely superhero!

Gardening

It’s finally Spring! Our children have been planting, watering and learning all about how seeds grow. Good luck everyone with your Sunflowers! Remember to keep me posted!

Easter

We end the term with thinking about Easter. In the classroom, the children have been able to look at and explore our Easter and Spring interest table. We have read the Easter story and have used our senses to experience the special time of year through our Sensology lessons.

Have a wonderful break everyone!
