Homeostasis and Response
This term in GCSE Biology we have been learning about the following:
The concept of homeostasis: Why is it essential for survival and the role of control systems.
Negative feedback mechanisms: How sensors, coordination centers, and effectors work together to keep conditions within a narrow range.
Regulation of body temperature: How the body responds to being too hot or too cold.
Control of blood glucose levels: The roles of insulin and glucagon in maintaining balance.
Water balance: How the kidneys regulate water and the importance of hormones like ADH. Human nervous and hormonal systems: How they interact to maintain homeostasis.


Art – Tree of Belonging
Students at ACE took part in collaborative project to create a sculpture that represents belonging at ACE. Each pupil was able to create a personal design for their handprint before adding it to the tree to create a final collaborative piece.

Edge Hill – Aspirations Workshop
Some Year 11 pupils visited Edge Hill University to take part in some Aspirations Workshops. During the workshops the young people were able to get an insight into University life and the different courses that are available.
