Sixth Form Curriculum and Careers
The Sandfield Sixth Form curriculum is life skills based.
We aim for each student to have a personalised pathway which enables them to complete qualifications at their own level and be ready for transition to College or employment.
Enterprise Schemes that run in the 6th form of Gardening, Printing and Card-making.
Work Experience Placement.
All students are given the opportunity to have a period of Work Experience in an outside agency or in Sandy Park Café, in school or through the 6th Form Enterprise activities of Printing, Art for Sale, Gardening or Card-making.
Supported Internship
Government funded Internships with the Marriott Hotel and The Liverpool Museums: students are offered placements supported by a Job Coach.
Hugh Baird College: Is currently on hold, but should be back up and running from September 2023. Pupils will be able to access six week taster sessions at the College each Friday morning. Students are able to choose from a variety of options, ranging from Floristry, Painting & Decorating to Joinery and Creative Arts and Catering.
The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme is offered to all students.
Sporting Activities: Students are given the opportunity to experience activities they can continue with out of school, these include Yoga, The Exercise studio at Dovecot MAC and the Golf Driving Range.
Preparation for the future.
The students are given the opportunity to discuss and explore the different colleges, agencies and employment providers available when leaving school, with our school Inclusion and Careers lead.
