Maths at ACE
The aims and objectives of the GCSE (9–1) in Mathematics are to enable students to:
  • develop fluent knowledge, skills and understanding of mathematical methods and concepts
  • acquire, select and apply mathematical techniques to solve problems
  • reason mathematically, make deductions and inferences, and draw conclusions
  • comprehend, interpret and communicate mathematical information in a variety of forms appropriate to the information and context​
Key Stage 3
At Key Stage 3 (KS3) will follow the KS3 curriculum. 
Pupils will cover all 5 strands of the KS3 curriculum:
  • Number
  • Algebra
  • Ratio and proportion
  • Geometry and measure
  • Probability and statistics
Progress through the Curriculum involves 3 summative assessments throughout the year. Teachers will identify appropriate points in the National Curriculum to assess pupil knowledge and understanding in order to progress confidently with the next stage. These assessments will also indicate if a pupil requires intervention as a form of subject support.

Key Stage 4
At KS4, pupils may be entered for the following courses:
  • Entry Level Certificate
  • Foundation GCSE - Exam Board - Edexcel
  • Higher GCSE - Exam Board - Edexcel
Assessments:
GCSE – formal examinations at the end of the course in May/June, 3 papers (2 calculator, 1 non-calculator) and 90 mins each.
Pupils who are working below GCSE level may be entered for Functional Skills Level 1 or 2 and achieve equivalent GCSE grades. Pupils working below Functional Skills Level 1 will be entered for Entry Level Certificate.
Entry Level Certificate – no formal external examination at the end of the course, internally assessed during June and 2 separate assessments (stage test and task).
