READ FOR GOOD SCHEME
Alder Hey Hospital School works closely with Read for Good to ensure reading is enjoyed by all throughout the hospital. The Read for Good scheme encourages children to read by running sponsored Readathons within schools. The money raised enables Read for Good to provide a wide range of brand new books for children to enjoy throughout the wards via a mobile bookcase and has previously provided sessions with story teller Helen.
The Alder Hey Hospital School has a strong ethos of reading for pleasure. Read for Good books provide enjoyment and entertainment for children and their families during their stay in hospital, which is vitally important. Teachers and learning support assistants at the Alder Hey Hospital School focus on children’s interests and educational requirements and work with children to select relevant books for both enjoyment and learning, where possible.
